About Us

The Restitution Project is dedicated to exposing and ending the harmful misuse of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) in cases of harassment, violence, and discrimination. NDAs have long been used to silence survivors, protect perpetrators, and allow systemic harm to continue unchecked. We believe in a future where transparency, accountability, and justice take precedence over secrecy and coercion.

Through research, advocacy, and legislative reform, The Restitution Project works to change the legal and cultural landscape surrounding NDAs. We collaborate with survivors, legal experts, policymakers, and organizations committed to protecting the right to speak out against harm. Our work supports meaningful policy changes that ensure NDAs cannot be weaponized against those seeking justice.

At its core, The Restitution Project is about restitution—restoring power to those who have been silenced, ensuring accountability for those who have abused their positions, and advocating for laws that prioritize fairness, safety, and truth. We invite you to join us in challenging the status quo and creating a world where justice is not negotiated behind closed doors.

Meet the Team

Services

The Restitution Project is committed to dismantling the systemic misuse of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) and empowering survivors to seek justice. Our work spans legal advocacy, public education, and direct support for those affected by NDAs, ensuring that survivors and their allies have the tools they need to reclaim their voices and demand accountability.

  • Legal Pathways for Survivors of Childhood Abuse – We help survivors and their families navigate the civil court system, providing guidance and resources to ensure they have a clear path to justice. By challenging the legal barriers that have silenced victims, we work to restore their right to speak and seek restitution.

  • Legislative Advocacy and Reform – We work at both the provincial and federal levels to develop, expand, and advocate for laws that protect victims and expose those who misuse NDAs to conceal abuse. Our goal is to create lasting legal change that prevents secrecy from shielding perpetrators.

  • Peer Support Through the Civil Court Process – Survivors facing legal battles should not have to go through them alone. We offer peer support to help individuals navigate the complexities of the civil court system, ensuring they have emotional and practical guidance throughout their journey.

  • Public Education on the Misuse of NDAs – Awareness is a powerful tool for change. We provide education on how NDAs have been weaponized to silence survivors of assault and harassment, equipping the public with knowledge to challenge these practices and advocate for reform.

Through these services, The Restitution Project is working to build a future where survivors are heard, perpetrators are held accountable, and the misuse of NDAs is no longer an accepted norm.

Beneficiaries

The fight against the misuse of non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) is about more than just legal reform—it’s about protecting people, amplifying voices, and ensuring justice is no longer hidden behind secrecy. The impact of this work reaches across communities, benefiting those who have been silenced, those who seek accountability, and those who fight for a more just society.

  • Survivors of Childhood Abuse – Individuals who endured abuse as children often face immense legal and social barriers when seeking justice. By challenging the use of NDAs, we help ensure that their stories can be told, that accountability is possible, and that future generations are protected from harm.

  • Advocates for Truth and Justice – Families, community members, and allies who stand with survivors benefit from laws that prioritize transparency over concealment. Their fight for justice should not be obstructed by legal agreements designed to suppress the truth.

  • Victims Silenced by NDAs – Those currently bound by NDAs—whether in cases of workplace misconduct, institutional abuse, or other forms of harm—deserve the freedom to share their experiences without fear of legal consequences. This work aims to restore their voice and agency.

  • Future Generations – By reforming how NDAs are used, we help prevent future harm. Children, employees, and vulnerable individuals will no longer be forced into silence through legal agreements designed to protect perpetrators rather than the people they harm.

  • Society as a Whole – When harmful practices are exposed and justice is prioritized, communities become stronger, institutions become more accountable, and systemic abuses are less likely to be repeated. Ending the misuse of NDAs benefits everyone by fostering a culture of integrity, truth, and safety.
